🐥🫧🛁 Rubber Duck Talks
A weekly accountability pairing system.
How it works for you:
-
Submit your name and email to your sign-up link to be included.
If you're reading this, you probably already have that.
- Every Sunday morning, you'll get an RDT reminder email which
includes a link to opt out for the week (or permanently)
- Monday noon: you'll get your RDT pairing for the week
- You and your RDT partner(s) can schedule your own check-in for
the week...
- ...and repeat! The system is set up to randomly generate pairs,
only regenerating if there is a repeated pair from the previous
week (e.g., John and Jane get paired up this week; they can't be
paired up again until the week after next -- unless they're the
only two people, for example).
- If there are an odd number of people opted in for any given week,
there will be one group of three.
What does an RDT check-in look like?
This is ultimately up to you and your RDT partner(s) each week, but
my vision is that we are each volunteering some time to be someone
else's "rubber duck": you're there to listen to someone describe a
problem that they've been stuck on, a reading they haven't quite
clicked with yet, or the new idea that they've just hatched 🐣
Of course, you are also encouraged to ask questions or even make
suggestions as your partner explains their issue or goal to you.
This way, even if you don't share a specialty with your RDT
partner, you should come away from your meeting having learnt
something about what they are doing -- and vice versa.
Meetings can take as long or as little as you have time for, but I
recommend that each RDT pair plans for a >= 30 minute chat.
